Three new cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have been diagnosed in Barbados.

Two of them are as a result of contact tracing related to a 24-year-old woman who arrived in the island on Virgin Atlantic on September 19 and who tested positive after a second test on September 24.

The two are a 62-year-old Barbadian woman and a 25-year-old Barbadian man. The Ministry of Health and Wellness has confirmed that aggressive contact tracing is in train to identify anyone else who came into contact with these cases.

The third case is a 22-year-old Jamaican woman who arrived on Caribbean Airlines from Jamaica.

Confirmed cases in Barbados now stand at 193. Recoveries remain at 179 since no-one was discharged from the isolation facility at Harrison Point, St Lucy today.

Seven people are now in isolation. Up to yesterday, the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory completed 23 750 tests.

Seven people have died as a result of the virus. (BGIS)
