Two new cases, only nine in isolation

Two more visitors tested positive for COVID-19 over the last two days, raising the total to 235 cases in Barbados.

On Monday, a 21-year-old Jamaican woman, who arrived in Barbados on Caribbean Airlines on Sunday, was positive after a second test.

This was among 515 conducted by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory on Monday when there were 234 confirmed cases and 217 recoveries. Nine people were in isolation and the laboratory had completed 34 310 tests.

On Tuesday, a 45-year-old visitor, who arrived on British Airways on Sunday, was also positive on the second test.

Meanwhile, one person will be discharged from isolation today, for a total of 218 recoveries. Nine people remain in the facility at Harrison Point, St Lucy, and there were seven deaths since the illness was first detected in Barbados.

The Best-dos Santos Lab did 377 tests on Tuesday, a total of 34 687.  (BGIS)
