Arnel Daisley said while he is being credited with saving the life of Ricardo Payne, he was just being neighbourly.

Payne was injured yesterday when he fell from his grandfather Gilbert Arthur’s roof in Martinique Road, Government Hill, St Michael, and was impaled in his right shoulder by a piece of steel.

“I was here working about 7:30 (yesterday) morning when Ricky came out and went on the ladder there on the left hand side of the house. He went up on the roof and I missed him for a few minutes. I heard this loud thump, so when I checked I heard some moaning and some hollering. I went on the [right] side and didn’t see him, and went on the other side and saw him lying on his back with the steel projecting through his right shoulder area,” Daisley recalled.

The woodworker said he was nervous and feared the worst, but he immediately called the emergency services. (RA)
