This year has been difficult for the Barbados Landship Association (BLA). But its members are determined to ensure the remainder is a lot less bleak.

During the BLA’s awards and presentation yesterday, Nurse Amy Herbert said although their numbers aren’t what they once were, she was pleased they were still able to attract new members at several schools.

“Over the past year, the Barbados Landship Association has been struggling to stay afloat. COVID-19 made remaining visible and maintaining our community presence even more challenging. Our ability to function was stalled by these present and ongoing circumstances. But we still had some highlights during 2019, as we gained some young members from Weston, St James and from Springer Memorial School who joined our ranks,” Herbert said.

She was speaking at the Main Dock, Licorish Village, St Michael, where about 15 members were rewarded for their service to the 157-year-old organisation. (TG)
