Flood watch for Barbados

Date:

Share post:

A flood watch is in effect for Barbados from noon today until 6 p.m.

A flood watch is issued when the conditions are favourable for flooding within the next 36 hours, but it does not mean that flooding will occur.

A surface to mid-level trough currently affecting Barbados is generating intermittent moderate to heavy showers across the island and maximum rainfall accumulations of 25 to 30mm are likely during the afternoon.

While these showers are not expected to be continuous, heavy intermittent shower activity may cause flooding in some areas. This is expected to increase during the night and into tomorrow. The Barbados Meteorological Services is forecasting a further 50 to 75mm (2-3 inches) of rainfall and a flood watch may be issued for that period. (PR/SAT)
