Unrest at St Gabriel’s School

Many teachers and parents are not satisfied with the management of St Gabriel’s School.

Their frustrations have led to an online petition, which has more than 60 signatures, “a mass exodus” of students who were transferred this school term, an “exit” survey and a sick-out by teachers yesterday.

The parents’ issues include what they say is a lack of transparency about the school’s finances and how it has dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic, while reports indicate teachers are upset their requests for a pay raise were denied.

In the petition entitled “Concerned Parents of St Gabriel’s” which was started two weeks ago, they acknowledged the school had a legacy of providing high-quality education for over 70 years, but said there were serious issues with leadership and management, and despite several requests, they had not seen financial statements requested at annual general meetings.
