About 7 000 fans turned out for the nocturnal “first” historic night of racing titled the Sir David Seale Racing Nite spectacle in Barbados and the Caribbean.

De Conkie Man, owned by Trinidadians Steve and Allan along with trainer Robert Peirce and apprentice Delano Lopez etched their name in racing history by winning the opening race on the illuminated track. Dubbed the Dancin David Trophy Handicap for West Indian maiden two-year-old De Conkie Man won in breathtaking fashion to deny Dream Society on the wire.

Nine spectacular races filled the tranquil cool atmosphere which saw tremendous competition by several top-class horses, champion trainers and Champion jockeys jostling on under floodlights.

Good track conditions prevailed for the Barbados Turf Club fourth day of its third racing season which worked out perfect for Bills Inc. owned colt Gandalf. (LY)
