Drivers urged to be careful on the roads

Barbadians trying to complete their last-minute Christmas shopping yesterday faced gridlocks from around 9 a.m.

Some of the affected areas included Baxters Road, Tweedside Road, River Road, Belmont Road, Wildey and Warrens in St Michael and Sargeant’s Village, Christ Church.

And as the heavy traffic is expected to continue today, Sergeant Seibert Johnson has urged Barbadians to be extra careful. He advised them to do their shopping early in the morning or late on the evening, avoid drinking and driving, driving while exhausted and travelling on the trays of trucks.

“We had some fatal accidents like that before and we are making sure persons adhere to that rule, so that they do not endanger their lives. No one is to drive in the tray of these cabs or motor lorries,” he said. (TG)
