Some Barbadians and visitors on the west coast of Barbados did their best to ring in the new year in a party mode before the midnight curfew took effect.
In Holetown, St James, a traditional fete spot for patrons, people gathered from just around 8 p.m. to celebrate 2021 with friends and family.
Police and members of the COVID-19 Monitoring Unit were on hand to patrol the streets and ensure the coronavirus protocol of mask wearing was adhered to.

The atmosphere at Spago Restaurant was quiet and romantic as dinners enjoyed meals and reminisced on a year marred by the global pandemic.
At TML One Love Bar, visitors from the United Kingdom sang and danced to local calypso music before fireworks filled the night sky around 9:30 instead of the traditional midnight.
A few well-known figures were spotted, including Everton striker Moise Kean. The 20-year-old forward, on loan from the English Premier League football team, mingled with friends while locals looked on.
Barbados’ fastest man Mario Burke, along with fellow national sprinter Jaquan Hoyte, were also enjoying the activities in Holetown.
Meantime, over at Limegrove, silence filled the air as the West Bar was closed because a family member of one of their staff tested positive for COVID-19.
However, next door at the Holetown Methodist Church, members of the congregation lifted their voices in song and prayers. Service was brought forward to 9 p.m. in deference to the curfew. (AGB)
