CIBC FirstCaribbean has advised that a “small” number of its employees attended the “super spreader” Boxing Day bus crawl or were in contact with patrons.
The bank noted in a notice posted on its Facebook page on Sunday that “all affected employees have been tested or are in the process of being tested and receiving all the necessary support from our management team”.
The notice said the employees will be in quarantine until they are cleared to return to work.
Minister of Health and Wellness Jeffrey Bostic last week described the Boxing Day bus crawl as a “super spreader” event of coronavirus (COVID-19).
There has been a spike in COVID-19 cases linked to the bus crawl and Government has asked patrons and their contacts to be tested at polyclinics. Testing started at the Eunice Gibson Polyclinic in Warrens, St Michael yesterday and continued at six polyclinics islandwide today.
FirstCaribbean said offices had been sanitised: “All our Barbadian offices have undergone a thorough, deep cleaning, in particular our Warrens and Bridgetown branches and our Rendezvous Finance Centre [Christ Church], where our affected employees are located. We will therefore be open to the public on Wednesday, January 6.”
FirstCaribbean reminded clients that there are health and safety protocols in place for entering its branches. (PR/KG)
