Caribbean Airlines issues COVID notice

Caribbean Airlines has informed clients that they would not be allowed to travel to the United States without a negative COVID-19 test, effective January 26.

This follows protocols outlined in a health alert posted on the website of the United States Embassy over the weekend.

“The US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) director has signed an order requiring all airline passengers traveling to the United States, including US citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs), to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 viral test or recovery from COVID-19.

“Airlines must deny boarding to passengers who do not meet these requirements,” the notice said.

“Caribbean Airlines advises that effective January 26, 2021, all passengers travelling into the United States of America (USA), will be required to present results of a negative COVID-19 test in order to travel,” a media release from the airline noted.

“It will be mandatory to have a COVID-19 test no older than three days before the flight departure date to the United States.

“Travellers must provide written documentation of their laboratory test result (paper or electronic copy) to the airline at check-in. Based on the instructions issued by the public health authorities, passengers who do not provide documentation of a negative COVID-19 test result will not be allowed to travel.

“All persons travelling must adhere to the COVID-19 entry requirements for their respective destinations. (PR/KG)
