Tasker extradition matter adjourned

The extradition matter against former senior vice president at the Insurance Corporation of Barbados Ltd (ICBL) Alex Tasker has been adjourned until February 11 and 16 when it came up for hearing in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court today.

The United States is asking that Tasker, of Mayfair Terrace, Leadvale, Christ Church, be extradited to the US to face a trial for conspiracy to launder money and money laundering between August 2015 and April 2016.

Tasker remains on $200 000 bail with a surety; his passport remains in the custody of the court; he continues to report to the Glebe Police Station, The Glebe, St George every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday and is on a 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew.

Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Alliston Seale and Senior Crown Counsel Oliver Thomas are representing the Government, while Tasker is represented by Queen’s Counsel Andrew Pilgrim and attorney Neville Reid.

Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes heard the matter. (HLE)
