The Bridgetown Port will be providing essential services only from February 3 to 17 as a result of the “national pause” to combat the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). Therefore, Shed 2 will remain closed to the delivery of personal effects.
The Port will, however, service vessels as usual.
A media statement said The Port will deliver and receive essential and emergency cargo only. Essential cargo is defined as:
- food supplies including perishable goods
- pharmaceutical and medical supplies
- farming and agricultural goods
- tanks for oil companies
- export cargo containing locally manufactured items
- any other goods deemed as essential for the purpose of supporting an essential national purpose and granted an exemption by the Office of the Attorney General.
Entry into the port will be by appointment only. Protocols such as wearing of masks, temperature checks, frequent hand sanitisation and observance of social distancing will be strictly enforced.
During the national pause, customers are encouraged to utilise the online payment platform at www.barbadosport.com.
