The Barbados Alliance to End Homelessness (BAEH) is working with Government to track several clients who left the Spry Street, The City headquarters prior to finding out that one of them tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
The charity is also asking authorities to suspend public feedings until the proper contact tracing exercise can be conducted.
In a release on Tuesday, the BAEH said one of its clients tested positive on Monday, after which the safety protocols were activated, the building was closed and all of the relevant authorities and ministries were informed.
Teams from the Ministry of Health, including senior medical officer Dr Anton Best and the COVID monitoring Unit quickly arrived at the shelter and commenced testing and contact tracing on all employees and clients. They are now awaiting results.
“Out of an abundance of caution, the BAEH has closed the shelter. All clients ae now quarantined in the building with our security team and all employees have gone into quarantine as well,” the release added.
Operators of the charity say it continues to adhere to the COVID-19 protocols. (SAT)
