Katura Luke, the woman who made headline news last year during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic when a charity worker stumbled across her extreme poverty and unsanitary living conditions, will soon be moving into a new home.

The Rural Development Commission has contracted the building of the house, and Indar Weir, parliamentary representative for St Philip South told the Sunday Sun it will be completed soon.

“The house is almost finished. The contractor said it should be finished by month-end. This is dependent on what happens after the national pause,” he said

Luke, 40, the mother of four, was rescued from the dilapidated home at Diamond Valley, St Philip, by Jordan English when he and a team of workers were delivering care packages in the area. (MB)
