Cotton harvesting will begin on March 1 at Searles Farm, Newton, Christ Church; Redland Farm, Wakefield, St John, and Mt Pleasant Farm, Parish Land, St Philip.
A media statement said people who had earlier applied are reminded that fields will open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., with all COVID-19 protocols in effect on site, and at all collection points.
Workers may also pick and store at their own convenience.
Cotton pickers are advised that harvesting attire must comprise the following: long sleeve shirts, long pants, headgear (hat, scarf or head tie), and fully enclosed shoes. They should also have an umbrella and water.
Personnel from the Barbados Agricultural Management Company (BAMC) will collect and weigh cotton at specific times during the day.
The opportunity to harvest cotton is being provided by the BAMC to give people a chance to earn cash and contribute to the economy, the statement said.
For further information on the cotton harvesting season, call BAMC’s office at 437-5465 or 422-2809. (BGIS)
