Government has warned the public to beware of a bogus notice making the rounds on social media, which invites people to apply for financial assistance from an alleged COVID-19 Support Grant Fund.

A statement from Barbados Government Information Service said the notice purportedly promises a payout within 24 hours of submitting an application.

“The Ministry of Energy, Small Business and Entrepreneurship has stated that Government has not issued such a notice, and is urging the public not to respond to any notices of this sort on social media.

“All notices issued by Government, which are of a public interest, are done through the Barbados Government Information Service and are disseminated via traditional and social media. The public is asked to be guided accordingly,” the statement said. (BGIS)
