Potential visitors to Barbados who are not prepared to wear masks when they come here, have been put on notice they will not be welcome.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Kenneth George made this clear yesterday while responding to a question from chief executive officer of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) Rudy Grant about the implications for travel to Barbados by people from Barbados’ source markets where there is opposition to mask-wearing after vaccination.
George stressed Barbados’ mask-wearing mandate will not be lifted any time soon.
He told BHTA members: “I am very concerned that persons within our source market, particularly the United Kingdom are going against science and burning masks and telling their population that masks offer no first-line protection against the disease. This is not acceptable in Barbados and would not be acceptable in Barbados,” George said. (GC)
