One hundred lady boxes and 15 baby boxes will be delivered to migrant women who are suspected human trafficking victims.

On Friday during a presentation at the Beach House, Holetown, St James, Senator Dr Crystal Haynes of the Lady Box Project and Lisa Venezia of the Zander Venezia Trust presented executive director of the Caribbean Anti Human Trafficking Foundation Dr Olivia Smith with the packages.

The packages contain women’s hygiene products, diapers, formula, bottles, baby wipes, and other essentials.

Smith thanked both organisations and said the products would go a long way to help the women who had no other safety net.

“Unlike the Barbadian who has the option of receiving welfare services or our social security, these persons are without any safety net. So these donations are critical to them living to see another day, getting food for babies, or other simple things we overlook,” Smith said.

Haynes said their non-profit group was formed around International Women’s Day, which was celebrated on March 8, and she explained that they were able to give that much because of the overwhelming support they had received in the past month.

Venezia, who spoke on behalf of the Zander Venezia Trust, which was launched in honour of her late son and surfer Zander Venezia, said they were pleased to offer their assistance.

“Zander’s Trust is specifically to aid disabled and underprivileged kids in Barbados and we are happy to help as many kids as necessary,” Venezia said. (TG)
