Jordan: BWU, Preconco Ltd matter resolved

Statement by Minister of Labour & Social Partnership Relations, Colin Jordan, on the resolution of a Barbados Workers Union and Preconco Limited matter.

“A dispute between the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) and Preconco Limited was referred to the Minister of Labour and the Prime Minister [Mia Amor Mottley].

“During the meetings of March 16, 17, and 18, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Labour and the Prime Minister, the differences and misunderstandings which led to their intervention were amicably resolved.

“The parties agreed to an effective date of April 1, 2021, for restoring the wages and a regime for settling all outstanding commitments. Both parties have undertaken to use their best efforts to restore and maintain industrial harmony.” (PR)
