Barbados head coach Russell Latapy is urging Government to grant permission for the senior national football team to train at the Wildey Turf in preparation for the second leg of the Concacaf FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June.
Prior to the opening matches of the tournament last month, the Tridents were unable to train in Barbados due to restrictions because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Barbados Football Association (BFA) was forced to fly the team to the Dominican Republic to the tune of BDS $400 000, two weeks before the first match against Panama at the Felix Sanchez Olympic Stadium on March 25.
“We need to be on the pitch. If we could get authorisation to train that would be the best case scenario for us. We have to work on a lot of different aspects of our game. I think it is a situation where we at the BFA will sit down and look at the best way moving forward,” Latapy told a Zoom press conference.” (AGB)
