Dr Melissa Branford-Jones is the new president of the Barbados Boxing Association.

During the more than three-hour long annual general meeting at the Wildey, Gymnasium, St Michael on Sunday, Branford-Jones, a former national volleyballer, was elevated to the top position with 34 votes.

Her closest challenger was former boxer and Commonwealth bronze medallist, Junior Greenidge, with 24.

Guyanese national and businessman Gardel Roberts gained two votes after former president Joyce Bowen and Alonzo Welton withdrew prior to the voting process.

Voting is ongoing for vice president, general secretary, treasurer and committee members. (AGB)
