Victim sceptical of compensation

Complainant Dave Harte does not want compensation if it is going to take the man who wounded him ten years to pay it.

He made this clear yesterday when he appeared in the No. 4 Supreme Court.

Harte’s comments came after Terry Avery Toppin, of Chapel Land No. 1, St Philip, had just pleaded guilty to unlawfully and maliciously wounding him on October 5, 2009.

Toppin had earlier pleaded not guilty to causing Harte serious bodily harm with intent on the same date. (HLE)
