Shooting brings back painful memories

Another shooting incident in Gall Hill, Christ Church, yesterday has a still grieving mother appealing for peace.

While no one was killed, Kathy Brathwaite said the incident brought back painful memories of when she lost her 21-year-old son Kobea in 2010, and his brother Terrence Brathwaite in 2018, both victims of gun violence.

“As a mother, hearing about another shooting hurt me. Last year two bullets went through my place – one hit a washing machine and the other lodged in a window. I want to tell the gunmen to put down the guns. It is too hurtful to hear about this foolishness again,” she said.

A neighbour, who requested anonymity, said they heard the gunfire.

“I now wake up and as soon as I was getting up I heard the shots. I was so frighten; I roll to the ground and call the police,” he said. (CA)
