Barbadian Formula 3 driver Zane Maloney moved up to fourth in the drivers’ standings of the 2021 Formula Regional European Championship after finishing fifth Saturday morning in Race 1 at the Paul Ricard Circuit in France.
In the pre-race qualifying session, Maloney clocked the fifth fastest lap and, as a result, was fifth on the grid for the race.

Unable to improve on his placing, the 17-year-old settled for his position and gained ten points for his finish.
He now moves up to 77 points, one point behind British driver Alex Quinn, who is third, also one point behind Maloney’s R-ace GP teammate Hadrien David. David finished second in the race as ART Grand Prix’s Gregoire Saucy converted his first place on the grid into his fourth victory of the championship.

Saucy leads the drivers’ standings with 85 points after three-and-a-half rounds. (Nick Maitland)
