Kishmar Primus is a major doubt for Barbados’ final World Cup 2022 qualifier against Dominica on Tuesday night here in Santo Domingo after suffering an ankle injury.

The Tridents’ first-choice goal keeper was taken off the field on a stretcher during a 1-1 draw with Dominican Republic at the Felix Sanchez Olympic Stadium on Friday following a remarkable save to deny Edarlyn Reyes.

“The medical team is looking after him, once everything is settled with the ankle we will have a better idea of how we will move forward. What I would say at this time is, it looks extremely difficult that he would be in contention for the upcoming game on Tuesday,” head coach Russell Latapy said.

Primus’ injury forced Latapy to introduce No.2 shot stopper Liam Brathwaite who produced an excellent penalty save to deny Ronaldo Vasquez.

“Given the time and circumstances under which he game into the game, he was absolutely magnificent. I’m proud that we have two very good goalkeepers. We’ve been demanding a lot from them and I think that we are seeing the benefits of all the hard work they are putting in,” the coach said.

The Tridents are set to continue training tomorrow ahead of their next encounter. (AGB)
