The future of football in Barbados is bright.

But head coach of the senior national team Russell Latapy says if the island’s top players are to shine on the international stage and qualify for major tournaments, greater financial support from Government and private sector entities is essential.

His comments came after the Tridents ended their campaign in the Concacaf FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers in third position in Group D with five points from four games with a loss, a win and two draws.

“If we can get the type of support for these young men it would be great. We know the BFA does the best that they can but if we can get help for some of these players we can really change lives,” head coach Russell Latapy told Weekend Sport. (AGB)
