Although the tropical wave approaching Barbados weakened yesterday, the Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) is still encouraging Barbadians to stay alert.
That’s because if there are light winds and heat today or tomorrow, meteorologist Racquel Davis said parts of the country could expect isolated thunder storms, showers and possibly some flooding if there were certain conditions.
“We still want persons to be aware, because even though the system weakened we are still expecting it to pass to our north. Normally when that happens we can expect light winds and if there is moisture available and strong day-time heating there is the possibility of localised activity like what we had when we had flooding in St Peter.
“It can start as early as 11 a.m. and go straight into the evening but it depends on those three conditions, light winds in the morning, strong heating in the morning to afternoon, and that’s then we would get those showers,” Davis said. (TG)
