The Wastewater Inspectorate of the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) is inspecting domestic properties connected to the South Coast and Bridgetown sewer networks, an exercise expected to continue until around the end of August.
The BWA is therefore asking customers for their cooperation during this exercise as it seeks to properly maintain the sewer networks.
Industrial Waste Inspector, Verrol-Ann Scott stated that “the team will be focusing on grease traps and possible storm water connections. Residents may be asked to open their grease traps during the inspections and to allow the personnel access to walk around the property as well.”
The group which comprises Scott and two junior Inspectors, Romel Parris and Daniel Singh, will be outfitted in BWA branded reflector jackets and carry BWA issued picture ID at all times.
On occasions, the Wastewater Inspectors will be accompanied by an Environmental Inspector from the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
The team will also be educating customers on the correct usage of the sewer network and according to a media release from the Authority, “will be happy to answer any questions you may have and assist wherever they can”. (PR/SAT)
