Education officials are pressing ahead with exams at the secondary and primary schools but, said Minister of Education Santia Bradshaw, it will not be to the disadvantage of those affected by Hurricane Elsa.

The weather system cut a swath of destruction on Friday, leaving some schools with torn off roofs, water damage and other property destruction.

But as the students gear up for the transition Common Entrance and the secondary Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) exams, some have been hard hit by the Elsa, which also left a significant number of households without electricity and water.

“We are in discussion with CXC because we recognise this is an unpredented event. Many of the students may be impacted because of the issue with the electricity or inability to get to the various centres. As a consequence we are speaking to them in relation to what may happen next week. . .” (AC)
