The Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training said today that classes have been suspended at all schools on Monday, July 5, and Tuesday, July 6.

Face-to-face classes will resume for Class 4 students only, on Wednesday, July 7, and Thursday, July 8. All other students will operate online for those two days, wherever possible.

The ministry said in a statement that Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) examinations scheduled for this week will proceed, as planned. The examinations scheduled for tomorrow, July 5, are: CSEC Principles of Accounts and CAPE Accounting, Chemistry, Literatures in English and Communication Studies.

Students registered at public secondary schools should report to their respective schools, while private candidates should report to the University of West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus.

Those students who are unable to get to their examination centre should go to the nearest centre (secondary school or UWI) and report to the supervisor on duty. All students will be accommodated to write the examinations.

However, those students who cannot get to any examination centre should immediately inform their principal or form teacher, who will communicate with the CXC Local Registrar.

Private candidates may call the Ministry of Education’s Examinations Section tomorrow, Monday, July 5, at 535-0657, or email [email protected], to report any challenges.

The Ministry of Education will do all in its power to ensure that no student is disadvantaged during this process.

Meanwhile, principals and teaching staff will oversee any necessary clean-up at their respective schools. All members of the ancillary and non-teaching staff should report for duty tomorrow, Monday, July 5, to assist with returning schools to a state of normalcy.

The ministry will provide further updates as necessary. (METVT/BGIS)
