The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) said today that all of its major pumping stations are working at full capacity and water is being supplied to 98 per cent of the population again, after the passage of Hurricane Elsa on July 2.
BWA said, however, there are areas to which the water supply has not been restored and “teams are fully focused on attending to those districts experiencing outages”.
“We remind our customers to be mindful and conservative in their use of water, which in recent days has been much higher than normal and has resulted in low levels at some of our reservoirs,” a statement said.
BWA said a “more measured use of water” should help in the efforts to allow levels in the reservoirs to return to normal.
Water tankers will continue to assist customers and refill community tanks daily. Customers were also reminded to store water. (PR)
