President of the Prison Officers’ Association (POA),Trevor Browne, yesterday lashed out at his accusers, calling their charges “a witch-hunt” and a plot to get rid of him.
At one point in his 55-minute testimony, Browne appeared overcome with emotion as he described how he fought for the rights of fellow prison officers, only to have some he described as “supporters of evil” attack and ridicule him.
“This is about destroying me, getting rid of me. It is about making an example of me, crushing me. It was about getting me out of the system at all costs – a witch-hunt,” he said.
Browne, 60, of Juniper Close, Cane Garden, St Thomas, was back in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court, where he has denied that on May 4, 2018, he maliciously endeavoured to seduce Stephenson Trotman, a prison officer, from his duty. (HLE)
