Danielle Treasure earned a B qualification ticket to the Pan American Juniors to be held in September in Cali, Colombia, with a golden swim in the 100 metres freestyle for 15-17 girls, when the National Long Course Swimming Championships continued on Thursday at the Aquatic Centre.

Treasure, 17, who earned a similar B qualification in the 200 free on Wednesday, was pushed to the line by Adara Stoddard of High Tides, taking the race in one minute, 00.75 seconds with Stoddard finishing 0.28 secs behind. The Pan Am request was 1 min, 00.80 secs.

Stoddard returned later for a second duel with Treasure in the 50 metres backstroke and the Christ Church Foundation School student took the close battle in 32.20, with Treasure touching the pads in 32.73.

Although no other local swimmers posted any records, the night was abuzz with excitement when two non-nationals showed their class. (KB)
