Althea Hinds still considers herself blessed despite the financial hardships and emotional trauma her family has experienced over the past six years.

The 69-year-old, who has the challenge of raising five grandchildren who are all under 16, said she still thanks God every day.

Since Christmas Eve 2015, Hinds has been raising five of Callie-Ann Gill’s seven children – Kelliston, 15, Kellisha, 14, Elliston, 12, Ellisha, 11, and Kanesha, eight, after Gill was fatally stabbed in Niles Road, Farm Road, St Peter.

Hinds’ son Elliston Greaves, the children’s father, was charged with murder. (TG)
