The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring the progress of a tropical wave located near 40W or about 2 000 km (1250 miles) east of Barbados at 7 a.m. on Thursday.

There are no watches or warnings in effect.

“The structure of the system on satellite imagery remains disorganised at this time. However, gradual development of this system is possible as it moves generally west northwest at about 20 mph across the central Atlantic.

“Current forecast tracks indicate that this system should pass north of Barbados late Saturday into early Sunday morning,” the Met Office said.

Memnbers of the public are advised to monitor updates from the BMS over the next 24 to 36 hours. The next update will be at 5 p.m. or sooner if conditions warrant. (PR)
