Flooding still a problem on Highway 1

The torrential rain that pounded Barbados yesterday caused flooding in many areas, including the newly refurbished Highway 1 in St James.

Part of the rehabilitation project was to mitigate flooding which had long plagued Holetown and its environs.

A concerned resident called The Nation on Friday night to complain of the flooding which she said was the result of a lack of proper drainage on the highway.

Adande Simon, of The Roti Den in Paynes Bay, at the junction with Holders Hill, described it as “drama”. (CA)
