92 new cases in COVID surge

Ninety-two people, 42 males and 50 females, were identified as COVID-19 positive by the Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory from 1 699 tests conducted on Friday, August 27.

There are currently 212 people in isolation.

There have been 4 881 confirmed cases of the virus (2 392 females and 2 489 males) recorded since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.  Forty-eight people have died from COVID-19.

The public health laboratory has carried out 257 510 tests since February last year.

Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, 107 122 first doses of the vaccine were administered.  Additionally, 93 587 people, or 34.5 per cent of the population, received second doses and are fully vaccinated. (BGIS)
