Government is ready to play a major million-dollar innings to move cricket from the community to providing Barbadians with careers globally.
This was revealed by Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, while delivering the feature address, entitled The Importance Of Cricket To Barbadian Society, when the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) hosted its annual awards ceremony online for the first time on Friday at Kensington Oval.
“I’m not sure if any other country in the world, per capita, has invested more heavily and consistently in cricket than Barbados – not only in cash but I mean across the board,” Mottley said.
After listing a number of superlative achievements by Barbadians in the game, she boasted that “Barbados, though small in size, when it comes to cricket, we are big”. (WH)
