The Barbados Meteorological Service is closely monitoring a tropical wave and an associated area of low pressure located near 45W south of 17N.
This was about 1 600 km (994 miles) east of Barbados at 9 a.m.
“Due to surrounding dry air and the lack of a well defined centre, the system remains poorly organised since yesterday.
“However, conditions are expected to become more favorable for slow development during the next few days as the system moves westward to west-northwestward,” a statement from the Met Office said.
“Current model guidance indicates that the system will pass well north of Barbados sometime early next week. Therefore, this system does not pose any direct threat to the island.”
Members of the public have been advised to monitor updates issued by the Met Office on this feature. The next update will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday or sooner if conditions warrant.
