The Barbados Meteorological Services continues to monitor the progress of a strong tropical wave and an associated area of low pressure located near 11N 33W at 2 p.m.

This system has become better organised during the day and could be upgraded to a tropical depression within the next six to 12 hours once this trend continues.

An initial westward, followed by west-northwestward to northwestward track over the weekend is forecast and, as a result, this system is not likely to pose any direct threat to the island.

The BMS will continue to monitor the progress of this feature over the next few days.

Members of the public are advised to continue to monitor all updates and alerts issued by the Met Office. The next update will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday. (PR)
