Two more elderly Barbadians have lost their life to complications related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), health authorities said on Wednesday.

A media release from the Barbados Government Information Service (BGIS) stated a 91-year-old woman died late on Tuesday and a 75-year-old man lost his battle with the viral illness early on Wednesday.

The woman spent seven days in the secondary isolation unit of the Harrison Point Isolation Facility, where she died, and she had pre-existing medical conditions and was unvaccinated.

The man was in isolation for 10 days at the Blackman and Gollop Isolation Centre, and he also had pre-existing medical conditions and was unvaccinated.

The number of deaths from COVID-19 recorded in Barbados is now 86.
