203 new virus cases

The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory identified 203 new cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) – 87 males and 116 females ‑ on Sunday, October 17. The facility conducted 1 913 tests.

The new positives comprise 52 people who are under the age of 18, and 151 who are 18 years and older.

There are 595 people in isolation facilities, and 3 269 in home isolation.

Confirmed COVID-19 cases recorded, since March last year, stand at 13 171 (6 339 males and 6 832 females). To date, 119 lives have been lost to the virus.

The public health laboratory has carried out 359 493 tests since February 2020.

Under the National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, the total number of people with at least one dose is 145 339 (63.6 per cent of the eligible population).

The total number of people who are fully vaccinated is 117 020 (43.2 per cent of the total population or 51.2 per cent of the eligible population). The eligible population represents people who are 12 years and older. (BGIS)
