A significant haze advisory is in effect and will be updated at 10 a.m. on Thursday or sooner if conditions warrant.
A dust-haze advisory is issued when dust haze has already or is forecast to reduce visibility to between five and ten km within 36 hours.
Hazy conditions due to a combination of Saharan dust and volcanic smoke from La Palma, Canary Islands will continue to reduce visibility across Barbados and the surrounding marine area, according to a statement from Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS).
These conditions will persist over the coming days, fluctuating in intensity. Residents, visitors, and marine users should be prepared to take action, as a significant reduction in visibility is either likely or already occurring. The BMS said all information should be verified with BMS official sources such as the BMS website, or social media pages before sharing/spreading information to others.
