Scores turned up at Queen’s Park yesterday for the first day of coronavirus (COVID-19) testing conducted there.
Just after 9 a.m. several people were in line at the Steel Shed, where the swabbing was conducted.
Seating for 48 was provided on the inside, and additional chairs were placed under tents set up on the outskirts of the shed.
The new testing centre is expected to reduce some of the pressure placed on polyclinics.
On Friday, the Ministry of Health announced that from Monday to Friday PCR tests and rapid antigen tests would be conducted from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the new location.
However, the ministry reminded outbound travellers who had to pay for testing that they should continue to go to the Gymnasium of the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex, Wildey, St Michael, as the debit/credit card payment service was not yet in place at Queen’s Park. (TG)
