A man is receiving treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) after being shot earlier today at Taylor’s Gap, Weston, St James.

Police said a call was received after 10 a.m.

“A 32-year-old male, the driver of a pizza delivery van, had stopped his vehicle momentarily . . . when an unknown man came out of some bushes in an area near an abandoned house and started firing shots in the direction of the driver of the van.

“The driver jumped out a window of the van in an effort to escape. He ran away, with the assailant giving chase whilst continually shooting at him. The driver received a wound to his right buttock,” according to a media release.

Police said the injured van driver was examined by ambulance personnel and taken to the QEH.

The assailant escaped on foot.
