A full reopening!

That’s what the Social Partnership group monitoring Government’s economic recovery programme wants to see.

The committee is concerned about Barbados’ slow rate of growth of the economy and the negative impact this is having on the country’s ability to rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Co-chair of the Barbados Economic Recovery and Transformation (BERT) programme Monitoring Committee, Trisha Tannis, also stressed the importance of avoiding “anything that looks like a full lockdown of the economy as much as we can” and for tourism to return to full capacity.

The senior business executive, who is chairman of the Barbados Private Sector Association, said it was essential that the full reopening of the economy take place, including the entertainment sector. (SC)
