Ho! Ho! Ho! There was no place like the Garrison Savannah for the holidays yesterday as trainer Richard Deane turned up as Santa Claus bearing great gifts.

Surprisingly, he kept the best for himself with a hat-trick and shocked all when Titans Racing’s Tigers Nest scored a humongous upset in race five on the Christmas Season Raceday.

The five year-old chestnut horse rewrote the record books for a paying winner having gone off in the Mrs Claus Handicap over 1 570 metres at 99-1 odds.

The winner, who got home by a head was partnered by apprentice Teshawn Hazelwood and paid a whopping $323.25 to win and $9.25 to place after edging out a determined favourite in Silverinthevalley.

There was another major upset on the day which was filled with thrilling finishes.

Among them was the feature Christmas Season Handicap over 1 570 metres were Harriette Brathwaite’s Red Heat, which is trained by Robert Peirce sped past horses with an electrifying burst of speed.
