A major crisis was averted yesterday, thanks to Roxy Supermarket employees, who quickly responded after a backup generator reportedly overheated at the Eagle Hall, St Michael compound.
Managing director Cheryl Hinds gave that update yesterday around 4:10 p.m. as the Barbados Fire Service officials continued their investigations into the matter, which attracted the attention of scores of onlookers.
Hinds said she was thankful there were no injuries and there was no structural damage to the supermarket, as the generator is located in a small outbuilding in the parking lot.
“I looked through my camera and saw the smoke billowing and I did not know what happened. However, thanks to the quick response of my employees, we were able to contain the fire. They notified me and we immediately called the Barbados Fire Service.
