30 more years for rapist

With four convictions for assault with intent to rape, a previous 15-year jail term for rape and two new acts committed 16 days apart, there was no doubt, said Justice Randall Worrell, that Kinchar Kenny Lavonne Mascoll was a serious danger to society.

It was that for reason, he said, that Mascoll should be jailed for 55 years.

“This court has looked carefully at this because on December 1, Mr Mascoll, you committed one rape. On December 17, the same month Mr Mascoll, you go and commit another rape. If society clearly hasn’t to be protected from you, if it hadn’t to be protected from you before, it is crying out, not only because of the seriousness of the offences, but it is crying out that you are someone society has to be protected from, because within the space of 16 days you commit the act of rape twice,” the judge declared yesterday.

He dismissed Mascoll’s excuse that his upbringing contributed to his actions. (HLE)
